Cynthia Jurrius is the Forte Carbon
Pole Giveaway winner

Cynthia, her husband Doug, and their three teens, Ryan, Scott and Kevin, sail aboard the lovely ’66 Cal 40, Belle Aurore.

Cynthia and her family live in Virginia and sail in the Chesapeake Bay area. The Jurrius’ bought Belle Aurore in late 2006, and had an exciting season racing her in 2007. The highlights: winning the 35 mile Race to Oxford, placing 2nd in the Chesapeake Bay Yacht Racing Association’s 2007 PHRF CD Highpoint Results, and taking first in the Oxford Ladies’ Night Race, Cynthia’s first time at Belle’s tiller!

The Jurrius plan to sail in the 2009 Annapolis to Newport Race and the 2010 Newport Bermuda Race, equipped with Forte carbon of course!

ìLet me start off by saying Belle Aurore received her first ëguní last Friday! As many of you may know, a gun is fired for the first boat in fleet to cross the finish line. Last Friday was Ladies night in Oxford, but since we had just returned from vacation mid-week (and my company had announced a re-org), things were pretty hectic and I wasnít able to contact anyone around to go sailing. But I convinced Cindy to skipper anyway, and promised I would meet her 3 conditions to do so:

1. We have plenty of good crew (we had only myself)

2. The winds be very light (it was blowing a strong 13 ñ 18 kts out of the South)

3. Read the race instructions (this I actually had done, but could not remember whether spin or non-spin started first) Ö
